Moreover, the direct effects of the flooding and landslides have affected a staggering 2.1 million people across Rio Grande do Sul. Homes have been destroyed, livelihoods swept away, and communities left in disarray. Over 81,000 individuals are currently residing in emergency shelters across the state, seeking safety and basic necessities in the wake of this disaster.
